Studying Through the Storm
You're walking home from your last class of the afternoon. All day, the sky has been heavy with rolling gray clouds, threatening a cold rain. Of course the first thunderclap shakes the ground beneath your feet just as you leave the university. You manage to make it to the main street in town before it begins to rain, and you dip into Amelie's Books, Cats, and Coffee--a cozy little nook cluttered with overstuffed sofas and loveseats reclined upon by lazy felines of all shapes, ages, and sizes, and warmed by a gently crackling fire. Quiet, preoccupied patrons sit by windows alone with their work and studies, and others crowd happily together around second-hand tables and talk quietly amongst themselves. The little hole in the wall smells faintly of woodsmoke, coffee, and gentle, drifting incense.
You're served your favorite drink, and seat yourself by the fire in a well-loved, comfy recliner with an over-lap desk that can be pulled in to rest your tea and notebooks upon. A large, fluffy gray tabby with a bobtail and a tipped left ear twirls briefly around your ankle before helping itself up onto your lap, curling up to keep you company as you disappear into your studies, waiting for the storm to pass.
