    Innatech Office alt 1998

Imagine Innatech in 1998, before the optimism completely curdled. Software companies are exploding, the Internet is becoming mainstream, and the office has that intoxicating belief that everyone is building the future. Employees stay late because they’re invested in the mission—or at least that’s what management tells themselves.

People are experimenting with new ideas, chasing innovation, and convinced that their work matters. The company even has bosses who play Chopin over the intercom because apparently classical music is the secret to boosting productivity and making twelve-hour days feel like a privilege.

But don’t mistake the nostalgia for perfection. Beneath the polished Windows NT 3.51 workstations and the “we’re changing the world” attitude, there’s still corporate pressure, questionable decisions, and the early signs of the culture that would define the next decades of tech. The burnout hasn’t arrived in full force yet, the surveillance isn’t everywhere, and the notifications haven’t taken over—but the seeds are already being planted.

Innatech isn’t a dystopian nightmare. It’s something more believable: a company in the late 90s caught between genuine excitement and the first hints of the corporate machine it will eventually become. A place where people believe they’re building the future, even as the future quietly starts building them
