Alchemist's Tower
While the night stretches on in an infinite blue-black outside, the alchemist scratches onto his parchment the positions of the stars. Chemical concoctions boil quietly in pots and flasks over fire. An owl churrs outside, and a crow caws intermittently from somewhere near the chimney. Somewhere below his tower laboratory, the strains of a lone violin stream mournfully into the night.
